We started farming for the same reason you're here — we couldn't find real food for our family.

"I'm a chicken farmer who won't eat store-bought chicken." 

That probably sounds strange. 

Let me explain. It started with soil. A few years ago, I went deep into learning how healthy soil actually works — and once you understand it, you can't unsee it. Most of the food on grocery store shelves comes from degraded farmland — soil that has been stripped of its biology, its minerals, and its ability to grow genuinely nutritious food. The plants look the same. The meat looks the same. But the foundation it was grown on tells a different story. 

"Healthy food comes from healthy animals. Healthy animals come from eating plants grown in healthy soil. And healthy soil doesn't happen by accident — it has to be rebuilt, tended, and restored."

That one idea changed everything about how our family eats, cooks, and lives. The transition happened slowly. Home-cooked meals. Fresh-baked bread. Learning to render lard and tallow. Giving up — and I say this with full awareness of what it means — the Costco membership. 

It meant learning new habits, new skills, and an entirely different relationship with food. It meant starting a farm in Valleyford, Washington. 

"It also meant my kids eat better than I ever did growing up."

Our animals are not just what we sell — they are the engine of everything we are building here. The cattle, the chickens, the pigs — raised and managed with intention — are actively rebuilding our soil. Better soil grows better plants. Better plants raise healthier animals. Healthier animals produce more nutritious food. This is why we call it "Restoring the Land."
